This position requires a motivated, experienced individual with a thorough understanding of the nonprofit sector, interactive marketing and the integration of online marketing with traditional forms of outreach. The Online Campaigns and Marketing Director is a role that demands creative thinking, deep knowledge of the consulting process, solid organization and time management skills, and a passion for working collaboratively with colleagues and clients. We’re looking for a well-rounded and persuasive individual who can facilitate dialogue around smart interactive marketing solutions in a room full of passionate and assertive people, as well as help a team of smart marketing consultants accomplish their work more efficiently and effectively.
The Online Campaigns and Marketing Director helps set the direction for our Online Campaigns and Marketing service line, works with our Delivery team to improve our processes and procedures, and plays a senior consulting role with our marketing clients. This person is deeply involved with our marketing sales strategy, and works with clients as the lead marketing consultant to brainstorm concepts, lay out the game plan, and work with Client Managers and production resources to champion the ideas through development.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of high profile, large nonprofit clients. This includes providing executive leadership to these clients and the Beaconfire staff working on their behalf, as well as identifying strategic opportunities for continued online program growth.
- Work with Beaconfire’s cross-functional client teams to develop marketing campaigns and communications efforts that can incorporate everything from email and social media marketing to SEO and SEM with the goal to grow constituencies and deliver fundraising, advocacy, and other outcomes effectively.
- Collaborate with Beaconfire’s management and sales teams to develop new projects and relationships including writing proposals, attending pitch meetings, working on contracts, speaking at conferences, and demonstrating industry thought leadership.
- Provide leadership for the Online Campaigns and Marketing service line including developing core competencies, building skills, partnering with other firms and subcontractors, and aligning resources to deliver successfully for our clients. Collaborate with the Delivery team to refine and develop processes for integrating Online Campaigns and Marketing work into all of Beaconfire’s offerings.
- Lead brainstorming and strategic planning sessions with clients.
Required Skills / Experience
- At least 8 years experience with online marketing and fundraising campaigns. Experience with related disciplines such as grassroots organizing, direct mail, consulting and cross-channel marketing highly desirable.
- Understanding of the nonprofit sector gained through experience working with, or at, a nonprofit.
- Knowledge of online marketing best practices and trends for nonprofit organizations. Reputation as thought leader in online marketing and fundraising a plus.
- Demonstrated success building and growing client relationships and strategic consulting with senior management.
- Project and team leadership experience required. Experience managing a service line to deliver online marketing projects is ideal. Personnel management is not required for this position.
- Deep experience related to email campaigns, list building/acquisition, online fundraising techniques, digital advertising, and social media.
- Hands-on experience in analyzing and reporting on campaign-related data, and using this data to inform strategic decision making.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, issues of social justice, human rights, humanitarian relief, poverty and hunger, healthcare and disabilities, political advocacy, the environment, and/or women’s rights.
- Demonstrated success using online tools, processes, and creative techniques for nonprofit fundraising, activism, and constituency building.
- Must be a resourceful, self-starter with an ability to work both independently and with a cross-departmental team.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with eCRM and CMS platforms such as Convio, Salsa, NetCommunity or similar.

This position requires occasional travel throughout the domestic US.
